Jan 29, 2021, 9:17 PM | Updated: 9:41 pm

As of late Friday night, the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals are closing in on a deal for all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado, per The Athletic MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal.

While specific details haven’t been released yet, the trade lands Arenado on a strong list of former Rockies superstars to depart the purple pinstripes via trade over the team’s nearly three decades.

Here’s a refresher:

•••

Rockies trade: OF Matt Holliday

Rockies receive from Athletics: OF Carlos Gonzalez, RHP Greg Smith, RHP Huston Street

Date: Nov. 10, 2008

After both sides failed to agree to an extension following the 2008 season, the Rockies shipped all-star outfielder Matt Holliday to the Athletics.

In return, the Rockies filled their closer role with Huston Street, who had 84 saves for Colorado over three seasons.

The Rockies also acquired three-time all-star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, who played a decade at Coors Field.

Holliday would go on to be traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009, where he would rack up four more all-star appearances and a World Series title in 2011.

Rockies trade: SS Troy Tulowitzki, RHP LaTroy Hawkins

Rockies receive from Blue Jays: SS Jose Reyes, RHP Miguel Castro, RHP Jeff Hoffman, RHP Jesus Tinoco

Date: July 28, 2015

After 10-plus seasons, all with the purple pinstripes, Troy Tulowitzki said so long to the Mile High City, heading north of the border to the Toronto Blue Jays in late-July 2015.

Tulo played in more than 1,000 games for the Rockies, amassing 1,165 hits, 188 home runs, and five all-star game nods.

On the return end, Reyes played just 47 games for the Rockies on the back end of the 2015 season before being released the following season.

Tinoco, Castro and Hoffman all made minor contributions on the mound for Colorado over the past few seasons.

Rockies trade: RHP Ubaldo Jimenez

Rockies receive from Indians: RHP Alex White, OF/1B Matt McBride, RHP Joe Gardner, LHP Drew Pomeranz

Date: July 30, 2011

On July 30, 2011, while making a start against the San Diego Padres, Ubaldo Jimenez was being traded to the Cleveland Indians for a haul of prospects.

Jimenez wrapped up one inning on 45 pitches with four runs and four walks before being pulled from the game.

On the return side, Pomeranz was the only player who saw any significant time in the MLB, going 4-14 with the Rockies over three seasons before bouncing around to Oakland, Boston, San Francisco, Milwaukee, and San Diego for two stints.
