Jerry Jeudy draws raves reviews after his first training camp practice

It didn’t take long for Jerry Jeudy to earn rave reviews as an NFL player. After just his first training camp practice, the rookie wide receiver was receiving all kinds of accolades.

“He has this unorthodox way of running routes,” safety Kareem Jackson explained. “He can get in and out of his breaks better than anyone I’ve ever seen before. For him to be rookie, his tempo and his routes — the way he can change pace and the way he sells things – is very rare.”

Down the road, that’ll make life tough for opponents. Right now, it’s a good test for Denver’s defense.

“It’s going to be a challenge for opposing defenses and guys in the secondary,” Jackson added. “For us, getting a chance to see him every day is going to help us. There’s another guy we see twice a year that kind of puts us in the mind of him in terms of getting in and out of breaks and running routes. For us to be able to see him on a day-to-day basis is going to help us. He’s going to pose a challenge for some other defenses.”

It was just the defense that was raving about Jeudy. His offensive teammates were, as well.

“I think Jerry had a nice day today; he had a couple good catches,” Noah Fant said. “He had some good routes. He’s going to be a lot of help for us.”

Fant believes Jeudy will give the Broncos a great one-two punch at wideout.

“Obviously, we have Courtland (Sutton), who’s doing big things for us,” the second-year tight end added. “Jerry’s going to be a good addition to that. It’s good to see him obviously coming out and making some catches already and doing his thing. I’m excited for that.”

Jeudy’s presence will open things up for everyone on offense.

“I think having a bunch of receivers that are good threats will open all of our tight ends up which I’m super excited about,” Fant added. “It’ll be a good thing.”

Even the head coach, a guy who hardly ever praises anyone, let alone a rookie, had good things to say after the 15th-overall pick after day one.

“Jerry’s come in here and he’s got good polish as a receiver comparing him to other rookie receivers coming out of college,” Vic Fangio told the media. “He runs good routes. He’s got good change of direction, good hands. It was nice to see him making a couple of plays today.”

It’s only one day, with a lot of work still ahead. But the early returns on Jerry Jeudy are nothing but positive.
