Keenan Allen doubles down on his trash talk with Chris Harris Jr.

The war of words between Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. and Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon. Five days after it started, it’s still going strong.

In the locker room after Denver’s win on Sunday in Los Angeles, Harris was asked about holding Allen to 18 receiving yards on just four catches. His responses – as reported by The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala – were bold, cocky and a little braggadocios, but that’s to be expected from the ultra-confident cornerback.

These comments seem relatively harmless, falling into the category of typical postgame banter from a player celebrating his team’s first win of the season. But a diva wideout might not see it that way.

On Tuesday, the Chargers wide receiver responded when asked about CHJ’s comments by the local media.

That seems a bit excessive. To paraphrase a little Shakespeare, “Methinks, the wideout doth protest too much.”

On Thursday, Allen had a chance to defuse the situation, back down from his comments or move on. He didn’t choose any of those paths, instead deciding to fuel the fire by doubling down on his previous comments.

A few hours later, Harris responded via Twitter.

Go ahead and circle Dec. 1 on your calendar. Thats the date the Chargers visit the Broncos, setting up what figures to be a hotly contested on-field battle between Chris Harris Jr. and Keenan Allen. In the words of Terrell Owens, “Get your popcorn ready!”
