Broncos Injury Report: Good news heading into Week 5

Oct 3, 2019, 6:37 PM | Updated: 6:37 pm

Trying to avoid the first 0-5 start in franchise history, the Broncos need every break they can get. It looks like they’re getting one on the injury front.

Multiple players are returning from injury, able to participate in practice. That’s a good sign that they’ll be on the field on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Here’s who was listed on the Broncos official injury report as of Thursday, October 3:

***

FULL PARTICIPATION

Duke Dawson (CB)
Injury – Ankle
Note – In his first extended action of the season against the Jaguars, the cornerback tweaked his ankle, an injury that doesn’t appear to be serious

Joe Jones (ILB)
Injury – Tricep
Note – After getting injured in the Hall of Fame Game, Jones looks like he’ll get his first game action in eight weeks

Ron Leary (RG)
Injury – NIR
Note – The day after missing practice for a “vet day,” Leary was back on the field

Emmanuel Sanders (WR)
Injury – Quadricep
Note – The veteran wide receiver was limited in practice on Wednesday, causing a little bit of concern, but he looked ready to go on Thursday

***

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Kareem Jackson (DB)
Injury – Hamstring
Note – The versatile defensive back looks like he might return after missing the Jaguars game, an absence that really hurt Denver’s run defense

Ja’Wuan James (RT)
Injury – Knee
Note – The high-priced right tackle appears on the brink of getting back on the field for the first time since the regular-season opener

Derek Wolfe (DE)
Injury – Ankle
Note – Wolfe toughed it out against the Jaguars, just a week after getting carted off the field in Green Bay with an injury that is still bothering him

***

DID NOT PRACTICE

Bryce Callahan (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – The cornerback will be sidelined a few more weeks due to a foot injury that dates back to last season and was re-aggravated during training camp

Josey Jewell (ILB)
Injury – Hamstring
Note – Injured while sprinting downfield in coverage against the Packers, Jewell tried to play against the Jaguars but re-aggravated the injury
