Broncos Injury Report: New bumps and bruises heading into Lambeau

Sep 20, 2019, 6:19 AM

Two weeks into the season and the Broncos Injury Report is starting to feel a bit like Groundhog Day. It’s the same players, with the same ailments and the same statuses as in previous weeks. On and on it goes, with no end in sight.

Or so it seems. There were some glimmers of hope this week, as Denver is optimistic that a player or two might return to the field.

In addition, a new injury has cropped up. While believed minor, it would be a major loss for the Broncos if this starter can’t go on Sunday at Green Bay.

Here’s who was listed on the Broncos official injury report as of Thursday, Sept. 19:

***

FULL PARTICIPATION

TODD DAVIS (ILB)
Injury – Calf
Note – Davis was injured on the first day of training camp, so this is a major step in the right direction; at this point, it would be a surprise if the middle linebacker didn’t play against the Packers

EMMANUEL SANDERS (WR)
Injury – NIR
Note – The day after getting a well-deserved day off, the veteran wideout was back on the field in preparation for a trip to Lambeau Field

***

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

BRYCE CALLAHAN (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – Callahan continues to recover from an injury suffered during the Broncos practice at the stadium in mid-August, but don’t expect him back on the field on Sunday

ANDY JANOVICH (FB)
Injury – Pectoral
Note – The Broncos starting fullback will not play against the Packers, but he is inching closer to returning; next week against the Jaguard is a possibility

JOSEPH JONES (ILB)
Injury – Tricep
Note – Injured in the Broncos preseason opener, Jones has yet to return to practice, but he appears to be closer to getting back on the field

***

DID NOT PRACTICE

JA’WUAN JAMES (RT)
Injury – Knee
Note – The high-priced right tackle only played 10 snaps this season before getting hurt, but his knee injury won’t require surgery and could end up being a pain-tolerance equation

RON LEARY (RG)
Injury – NIR
Note – The oft-injured offensive lineman continues to get “vet days,” missing practice for “non-injury reasons” as the Broncos try to keep him healthy during the season

COURTLAND SUTTON (WR)
Injury – Ribs
Note – After practicing on Wednesday, the second-year wide receiver wasn’t on the field on Thursday, as a rib injury popped up and kept him out of practice; this is something to keep an eye on as the weekend approaches
