GAME NOTES

» Sunday’s Denver Broncos home game against the Chicago Bears will be the team’s first under its stadium’s new name: Empower Field at Mile High.

» The Broncos are 17-1 (.944) in home openers since the stadium opened in 2001 and 45-13-1 all-time in franchise history.

» Denver will play its home opener after Week 1 for the first time since 2010.

» The Broncos own an 8-7 (.533) record all-time against the Bears, including a 5-3 mark at home.

» With a win, Denver would become the sixth team since its inaugural season in 1960 to reach 500 overall wins.

» Broncos head coach Vic Fangio served as the Bears defensive coordinator from 2015 to 2018, along with Denver’s current defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, then Chicago’s defensive backs coach.

» Chicago defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano, considered a head coaching candidate for Denver this offseason, is a native of Boulder.

» Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. needs one interception to become the 12th player in club history to pick off 20 passes.

» Broncos pass rusher Von Miller needs just one sack to pass Joey Porter for sole possession of 33rd on the NFL’s all-time sack list.

» Miller needs two sacks to reach 100 for his career, which would make him the fourth-fastest player to do so (Reggie White: 96 games, DeMarcus Ware: 113 games and Bruce Smith: 115 games).
