Khalil Mack ranked ahead of Von Miller in latest PFF countdown

All the week, Pro Football Focus has been releasing their list of the top-50 players in the NFL, unveiling a different group of players each day. In terms of Broncos, only two were able to crack the rankings.
First to be named was Chris Harris Jr., who cracked the top 25.

According to PFF, Harris is the third-best cornerback in the NFL. He finished behind Jacksonville’s Jalen Ramsey (No. 15) and New England’s Stephon Gilmore (No. 14).
Later, another Bronco made the list. Not surprisingly, it was Von Miller who was the highest-rated player on the team.

That’s definitely good news, as there’s nothing wrong with being the 11th best player in the league. However, one player who did crack the top 10 ahead of Miller was interesting.
According to Pro Football Focus, Khalil Mack is the best edge rusher in the NFL, not Miller. The Bears star finished higher on the list.

It’s an interesting result given that Miller finished the 2018 season with 14.5 sacks, while Mack recorded 12.5. In their careers, the Broncos pass rusher has 98 sacks, while the Bears perennial Pro Bowler has 53.
So why the reverse order in the 2019 rankings? Pro Football Focus sees Miller’s production dropping off this season.
Going into his age-30 season, Miller will fight against father time to keep his streak of single-season overall grades of 90.0 or higher in 2019, but he’s still given no reason to doubt his excellence at this point in his career.
Ah yes, “Father Time is undefeated.” That old story.
Here’s hoping Von uses this slight as a little added motivation in 2019.
