Kicking it Back to ’97: The Drive 3/19/19

The Drive with DMac & Zach Bye LIVE IN STUDIO!!!



The guys talk about the Mike Trout deal, and what it’s like getting paid to play baseball. Jeff Heuerman’s press conference is broken down, and DMac imagines what it’s like having Jeff Heuerman money. Also, why the Broncos are kicking it back to ’97 and why Isaiah Thomas is upset.

DMac talks about the hiring & extension of Michael Malone in Denver. Zach mentions the one characteristic of the Nuggets front office that’s unique to the NBA, and DMac says you need to commit to certain guys or else you’re a bad organization.

The guys talk about Michael Malone & his relationship with the players. DMac says Nick Saban is the king, and gets treatment similar to Bill Belichick. Also, DMac & Zach agree Trevor Siemian is the perfect fit as a backup in Denver.



Zach & DMac discuss how long John Elway has left as the GM of the Denver Broncos, and if his vision is becoming clear. Also, Peyton Manning as a possible replacement on Monday Night Football and if John Elway would draft Drew Lock at No. 10 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, forcing Orlando Franklin to get a tattoo.

DMac says the Broncos were never going to offer Matt Paradis a multi-year deal, because they have a history of things not working out with paying injured players. Zach says John Elway has done a great job, and this is his second-best year as a GM to date.

DMac thinks the Broncos need a blocking TE for the kind of offense they are going to run, and that’s why Jeff Heuerman is going to be the starter. Zach points out there isn’t much out there when it comes to free agent Tight Ends.



The guys talk about Travis Kelce, and how rare it is to find a guy like him. Zach makes an argument for T.J. Hockenson, and DMac says Robert Kraft is doing the walk of shame. DMac talks about Joe Flacco’s personal logo, and wonders why anyone would want to buy a Case Keenum T-Shirt.

Zach & DMac bring up some draft prospects Denver could be interested in, including DK Metcalf, and Zach says Denver has big plans for Courtland Sutton. DMac tells Zach why no one is talking about stud WR N’Keal Harry.
