The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO!!! ESPN Insider Adam Schefter joins the show to talk about going to Atlanta for the Super Bowl, and if he picked up a Super Bowl sickness. Troy Renck talks about the Super Bowl reminding him of a Jacksonville Jaguars game, and says it’s fascinating the Patriots can adapt & beat you in many types of ways.
Al & DMac are back from Atlanta, and Big Al says the Super Bowl felt weird & the halftime show no longer lives up to expectations. Al calls DMac a Patriots fan, and thinks Sean McVay got embarrassed. DMac says the Patriots have found ways to grind out games, even if it’s boring.
The guys talk about situational football in the Super Bowl, and if it was an entertaining game or not. Big Al remembers the late Irv Brown, and what he meant to the Denver Community & taught Al about broadcasting. DMac mentions Irv Brown’s smooth style, and says it’s an honor to take over for Irv Brown’s show.

DMac asks Big Al if Julian Edelman deserved to win Super Bowl MVP, and Al says Edelman was the most dominant player on the field. Al says Tom Brady doesn’t care about Super Bowl MVP trophies, and the guys talk about the scrum Tracy Wolfson was in after the game.
Troy Renck talks about the Super Bowl reminding him of a Jacksonville Jaguars game, and says it’s fascinating the Patriots can adapt & beat you in many types of ways. Troy says this Patriots win was identical to the loss the Broncos suffered to them two years ago 16-3 when Denver contained Tom Brady the entire game, and feels bad for Wade Phillips. The guys talk about Maroon 5 and their Super Bowl press conference, and the Nuggets in first place in the Western Conference as Nikola Jokic is named Player of the Week & Michael Malone is chosen to coach LeBron’s All-Star team. Big Al says Malik Beasley has come up huge for Denver, and now the Nuggets are depending on him.
Big Al says it was funny seeing the majority of the fans rooting for the Patriots, and Nickell Robey-Coleman is not Chris Harris Jr. Also, the guys talk about the chess match between Josh McDaniels & Wade Phillips.
Al & DMac discuss Pat Bowlen & Champ Bailey getting a knock on the door by the Hall of Fame committee, and Al mentions the East Coast bias when looking at Ty Law & Steve Atwater. Also, the guys talk about the Ndamukong Suh hit on James Develin, and Al says Suh is one of the nastiest players he’s ever seen.
Joe Williams joins the show to talk about Irv Brown, and what made him so special. Joe says Irv was always interested in people, and could remember everyone’s name without expecting anything in return. Joe says Irv was one-of-a-kind, and he doubts Colorado radio will ever experience anything or anyone like Irv Brown again. Also, Joe explains why he and Irv Brown could never agree on John Elway.
