Yes, the Denver Broncos play at a mile above sea level. Yes, the air is thinner. Yes, sporting balls of a wide variety fly further here.
But 84 yards?
Justin Tucker thinks it’s possible, in Denver, in the right conditions.
The Baltimore Ravens kicker told NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” that before his team’s regular season opener against the Denver Broncos that he bounced a field goal attempt from 85 yards off the crossbar –– and could hit one from 84.
But Broncos kicker Brandon McManus wasn’t having any of that, tell 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis after practice Friday he’d pay for Tucker’s plane ticket and hotel if he were to fly to Denver to prove his claim.
Alfred Willliams wasn’t having it either, calling the remarks a slight on pro athletes who play at elevation in Denver during “The Drive with Big Al and DMac” Friday afternoon.
“It’s another slight at anything that flies in the air in Colorado,” Williams said. “The athletes get slighted. Trevor Story got slighted, CarGo got slighted, and now Brandon McManus is getting slighted because he’s playing here in Colorado.”
