C.J. Anderson joins the show to tell DMac & Chad he learned a lot about himself through his most recent injury, and says he won’t make the mistakes he made in the past. C.J. is trying to get back to the body shape he had in ’14, and has learned when to keep going & when he can push it. DMac asks C.J. if the group & scheme are good for the O-Line, and Anderson notes the difficulty of bringing in the correct personnel to match the scheme. Also, C.J. says as an NFL running back, you must prepare for everything, because you never know what can happen. Catch C.J. at Chick-fil-A in Greenwood Village tonight serving up milkshakes.

Patrick Saunders: The Drive 6/15/17

Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post tells DMac & Chad his favorite person is quickly becoming Bud Black, and gives the guys an update on the Rockies catcher position, as Tony Wolters may be getting some help soon in Tom Murphy. DMac laughs about 24 of the Rockies final 30 games being against division opponents, and Patrick hopes Colorado can stay in the mix for the long haul. Also, Patrick says CarGo was previously the Rockies only tradeable asset to begin the year, but currently has little value.

David Peterson joins the show to discuss his summer with Team USA & who was in the room when he got drafted by the NY Mets with the 20th overall pick in the ’17 MLB Draft. David tells DMac he’s still trying to wrap his head around being drafted, after coming a long way from Regis Jesuit. Also, David says those who are successful typically achieve success because they worked for it, and DMac asks if he would consider the CU Buffs if they had a prestigious baseball program.

Ed McCaffrey joins the show to talk about his upcoming camp next Monday, and how he didn’t even go to a football camp until high school. DMac asks Ed how this year’s Broncos can run the ball better with the help of receivers as blockers, and Ed tells him big plays happen when receivers are getting it done, and there’s no way of knowing when the big play will come. Also, Ed talks about taking the pressure off the student athlete & gives an update on Christian and the McCaffrey boys.

Troy Renck joins the show to tell DMac & Chad the Broncos defense wanted to embarrass the offense in mini-camp today. The guys discuss whether or not this defensive swagger could hinder the offense, and it may be a disadvantage to the QBs having to play that defense every day. Troy notes that if the speed translates, Isaiah McKenzie will be a factor in ’17. The fellas agree with Troy that until they start doing it on Sunday, the new prospects are still merely hopefuls. Also, Renck informs DMac he’ll be keeping an eye on Garett Bolles this week, now that he’s getting reps with the first team.
