Broncos Injury Report: Almost full go for pivotal Week 7 showdown

Oct 16, 2019, 1:14 PM

Believe it or not, the Broncos are back in the AFC West race. And if they can find a way to beat the Chiefs on Thursday night in Denver, they’ll be squarely in the mix for the division title. After an 0-4 start, that’s an unexpected twist.

But the good news doesn’t end there. Heading into the biggest regular season game at Empower Field in quite some time, the Broncos are as healthy as they’ve been since the start of the regular season. For the most part, Denver will have all hands on deck when Kansas City rolls into town.

Here’s who was listed on the Broncos official injury report as of Wednesday, October 16:

***

FULL PARTICIPATION

Duke Dawson Jr. (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – After missing last week’s game against the Titans, the cornerback returns to the lineup to provide much-needed depth in the secondary

Shelby Harris (DE)
Injury – Ribs
Note – Since moving from the middle of the defensive line to the outside, Harris has been much more effective; hopefully a rib injury won’t derail that progress

Ron Leary (RG)
Injury – Shoulder
Note – Normally, the veteran offensive lineman is on the injury report because he’s getting a “vet day” to keep him fresh; now, it’s a shoulder injury that could limit him on the field

Will Parks (S)
Injury – Wrist
Note – The reserve safety is on the field a lot for Vic Fangio’s defense, so having him at full-go will be important against the pass-happy Chiefs

Mike Purcell (NT)
Injury – Knee
Note – The same injury that landed him on this report last week lingers, but Purcell was in the middle of Denver’s d-line against the Titans, so he should be versus the Chiefs too

Emmanuel Sanders (WR)
Injury – Knee
Note – Four days after missing the second half off a game, the wide receiver is still nursing a knee problem, which is a major cause for concern

Derek Wolfe (DE)
Injury – Hip
Note – Bumps and bruises pile up this time of year, which is what Wolfe is dealing with after; first it was an ankle, now it’s a hip

***

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Ja’Wuan James (RT)
Injury – Knee
Note – The high-priced right tackle appears on the brink of getting back on the field for the first time since the regular-season opener, but it probably won’t be this week

***

DID NOT PRACTICE

Bryce Callahan (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – The cornerback will be sidelined a few more weeks due to a foot injury that dates back to last season and was re-aggravated during training camp
