Camp Countdown: Broncos need to see ‘lightbulb’ go on with Bolles

No worries, Broncos Country. Mike Munchak is here to save the career of first-round left tackle Garett Bolles.

“Mike Munchak walks on water. Hall of Famer. Best o-line coach that the game has to offer, right? This is what we hear,” said Zach Bye on Monday.

But, as the “Stokley and Zach” co-host said as well, “Better hope it’s true.”

“We all better hope it’s true because we are putting such an incredible emphasis on this position coach.”

Bye said he coined the idea of the “Munchak bump,” wherein the offensive line coach (see: guru) will swoop in and mend all ailments up front for Denver.

But if that is to become true, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mike Evans said it needs to be almost instantaneous for Bolles.

“To me, it’s not some work in progress because, literally, it will be like the lightbulb went on for this guy,” Evans said Monday. “And he should be freed up and confident and that ‘ah-ha’ moment should be so profound that we’ll see it right away.”

If that lightbulb doesn’t go on, however, it could spell the demise of not only Bolles in Denver but the Broncos season in general.

“It’s all on Garett Bolles getting better. He has to get better. He can’t get worse,” said “The Drive” co-host Tom Nalen on Monday. “And he has the athleticism to be a decent left tackle in the NFL.”
