Michael Porter Jr.’s latest workout video reason for optimism

Jun 27, 2019, 2:16 PM

The latest trend in Colorado sports seems to be injured athletes posting videos of their workouts on Instagram to demonstrate how well they’re doing in rehab. Recently, it was Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders who was using the social media platform to show off his recovery from an Achilles injury.

Now, it is Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. who is announcing to the world that he’s ready to play. With the second-year player’s debut in a Nuggets uniform set to come next Friday during NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas, the forward posted a video to show that he’s fully recovered from the back surgeries that sidelined him for the entire 2018-19 season.

Granted, MPJ isn’t going against any competition. And yes, he looks to be going less than full speed in the video.

But there’s no evidence that he’s moving gingerly due to the back surgeries. There’s no sign that the reported “drop foot” that had developed in causing any issues moving around the court.

For now, that’s good enough for Nuggets fans. In an offseason that is shaping up to be a dull one, the big news in Denver would Michael Porter Jr. getting back to full strength. And the forward’s latest Instagram posts suggests that’s a real possibility.
