A State of Uncertainty: The Drive 4/3/19

Apr 3, 2019, 6:45 PM

Nicki Jhabvala, writer for the Athletic and Fan Insider, sat in with D-Mac today!

LISTEN TO HOUR ONE HERE!

In the first hour, D-Mac asks Nicki Jhabvala, The Fan’s newest Bronco Insider, to take us on a trip down memory lane and tell us all how she got to where she is today with The Fan and The Athletic. D-Mac and Nicki break down Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest mock drafts. Kiper and McShay mocked the entire first two rounds and had some differences in opinion on who they believe the Broncos will take with the tenth overall pick. What happens if Dwayne Haskins falls to the Broncos, should they throw out their plan and take him?

LISTEN TO HOUR TWO HERE!

In the second hour, D-Mac and Nicki dive into the current state of the Broncos’ ownership situation. How will the uncertainty amongst the team’s top brass affect their product on the field? Will Devin White be available when the Broncos are on the clock, and if not should the team consider trading up to get him? D-Mac and Nicki react to the Avalanche’s powerful win over the Houston Oilers last night. How primed are the Avalanche to make a playoff run this year and build a championship-caliber team around Nathan Mackinnon? D-Mac says there are plenty of things to be worried about when it comes to the Denver Nuggets after their painful loss to the Golden State Warriors. Is the traditional hierarchy of Denver’s sports teams beginning to shift as the Broncos continue to struggle?

LISTEN TO HOUR THREE HERE!

In the third hour, D-Mac and Nicki discuss Chris Harris Jr.’s future. How concerning is it that Chris Harris Jr. chose to skip voluntary workouts with the team? Given it is only April 3rd, should the Broncos even concern themselves with Harris’ extension? D-Mac and Nicki dive deeper into the Broncos ownership situation and some of the fallout that has spawned from it. D-Mac analyzes the Broncos offseason moves up to this point. D-Mac and Nicki each mock their ideal draft scenarios for the Broncos through the first few rounds. D-Mac says in order for the Broncos to execute a perfect draft, they will likely have to make some tough decisions regarding several players currently on the roster.  D-Mac and Nicki close out the hour recapping the Avalanche’s impressive win against the Houston Oilers and the Nuggets’ painful loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors.

George Paton: Round 1 isn’t the only place where Broncos can find a quarterback

For Broncos general manager George Paton, the draft able answer to the Broncos’ quarterback quandary doesn’t have to come in the first round. “I do think it is a good quarterback class. There’s seven, eight quarterbacks that we like that (we) think can play in the league one day,” Paton said during a pre-draft press […]
