The Drive with DMac & Tom Nalen LIVE IN STUDIO!!!
DMac & Tom Nalen go over the breaking news about Matt Paradis going to the Carolina Panthers, and Tom Nalen goes over what teams do when they’re desperate at a particular position. DMac wonders if Carolina paid too much for Paradis, and Nalen says it was a risk.
Tom points out glue guys on the Broncos 2015 Super Bowl team like Malik Jackson & Wade Phillips, and says Elway didn’t realize that team was built on defense. Nalen tells DMac John Elway is competitive as they come, and never feels like he’s rebuilding.
The guys talk about options other than Case Keenum, and the Broncos timeline of quarterbacks. Tom Nalen attacks DMac’s QB theory, and mentions the importance of drafting a quarterback to fit your system. Also, Nalen says Joe Flacco isn’t even a BAND-AID.
DMac & Tom talk about the Nuggets improbable run, and preview their matchup with the Timberwolves at Pepsi Center tonight. DMac asks Nalen about turning down a degree from Harvard, and playing for Boston College. Also, we get Nalen’s thoughts on Ja’Wuan James as the Right Tackle in Denver.
Nalen is down on Garett Bolles, and mentions Bolles going up against Von Miller & still improving slowly. Nalen says Mike Munchak has had good offensive lines, and that’s helped him along the way as an offensive line coach in the NFL.
The guys talk about going to parties with their sons in college, and Tom Nalen mentions Syracuse and his son’s lacrosse team. Also, Tom says John Elway’s big plan this year is winning the division.
DMac reviews Tom Nalen’s career in the NFL, and Tom says he didn’t even want to be in the Ring of Fame because his aunt Barbra is a pain. The guys talk about the Hall of Fame Game and why ratings are up. DMac says things have been interesting with Von, and Tom says the coach can say any player could play better. Nalen goes over technique, and why he loves Quenton Nelson, as well as his beef with Doug Flutie.
Tom Nalen talks about public speaking and referencing the Miss Teen USA speech, and the guys agree the Broncos lucked out that Phillip Lindsay grew up in Aurora.
