The Denver Broncos will kick off the enshrinement of owner Pat Bowlen and cornerback Champ Bailey by playing in the annual Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 1, the team announced Tuesday.
Denver will take on the Atlanta Falcons in the first event of the 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week in Canton, Ohio, wherein Bowlen and Bailey will be honored as part of this year’s class.
“With Mr. Bowlen and Champ Bailey part of this year’s induction class, it’s an honor for the Broncos to play in the Hall of Fame Game,” said Broncos Head Coach Vic Fangio in a release. “We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of Broncos fans in Canton, and it’s also special for us to help kick off the NFL’s 100th season.”
On the football side of things, Fangio the club will take advantage of an additional week of training camp practices.
The Broncos will be playing in the game for the fourth time in club history, though it’s the first time they’ll participate since general manager John Elway’s induction — the first for the franchise — in 2004.
Individual tickets for the 2019 Hall of Fame Game and Enshrinement Ceremony go on sale Friday at 8 a.m. Denver time and are available at ProFootballHOF.com/tickets.
