The Denver Broncos, at least during the early stages of free agency, will not re-sign nose tackle Domata Peko, according to 9News’ Mike Klis.
A 13-year NFL veteran, Peko, 34, is an unrestricted free agent following the end of his two-year, $7.5 million deal with the Broncos.
Klis reports that the door remains open for Peko to return to Denver should the Broncos not find a suitable replacement in free agency or the NFL Draft, though the club and Peko’s representatives did not talk about a new deal.
After spending his first 11 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, starting all but his rookie season, Peko joined the Broncos during the 2017 offseason.
During the past two seasons in Denver, Peko started 30 games for the Broncos, amassing 1.5 sacks, 69 tackles (44 solo), eight tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery.
Among all interior defenders in the NFL, Peko ranked 39th, according to Pro Football Focus.
