The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO!!!
The guys agree there needs to be more technology in sports, and DMac goes over the reason he would trade Von Miller & draft Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver. Big Al says this is an old-fashioned coaching search & we don’t want the pain of losing. Also, DMac says this will be ‘team Gary Kubiak’ and it’s great for John Elway.
DMac doesn’t take the names Kliff Kingsbury or Urban Meyer seriously as the Broncos’ next head coach, and tells Big Al we already know the five guys.
DMac gets the ages of the Broncos head coaching candidates, and laughs when he hears Zac Taylor is friends with Klint Kubiak.
Big Al tells a story about John Elway & Mike Shanahan, and remembers Jeff Heuerman had never been in a huddle before he was drafted by the Broncos. Big Al says the offense needs to be progressive & it’s going to be hard for Gary Kubiak to get away from what he knows after a Super Bowl victory. Also, DMac says welcome to the year 1995.
DMac says everything about this coaching search screams Gary Kubiak, and points out that the Rooney Rule comes into play now.
Big Al & DMac talk about the best of ’95 including unlimited minutes and payphones. DMac says Gary Kubiak doesn’t want to be the head coach and deal with players.
The guys talk about Tulo going to New York to play for the Yankees, and DMac remembers how upset everyone was when Tulo was traded by Colorado. DMac & Al draw connections with Kliff Kingsbury & the Broncos, and DMac guesses when the Broncos will name their next head coach. Also, Al is afraid of getting beat if the Broncos can only average 20 points a game.
DMac talks about what will happen three years from now, and if anything will change with the Bowlen trust. Also, DMac says maybe John Elway thinks the Broncos can still win now & won’t trade Von.
