What does the future for Case Keenum with the Broncos look like now?

A clearly emotional Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum said he felt a lot of “anger” with himself after his team’s 17-16 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night.
But despite a growing sentiment of anger directed toward the Denver gunslinger among Broncos Country, 104.3 The Fan host Sandy Clough said fans should expect to see Keenum under center next season.
“He is clearly not good enough to lift an otherwise at best mediocre team, but as to the question on whether he will remain in 2019 as the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos, I think there’s almost a 2-1 chance that he will …” Clough said after the game.
After being challenged by head coach Vance Joseph last week to be more aggressive in passing the ball, Keenum played “with a little more abandon” against the Browns, Clough said, taking more chances and also throwing a pair of interceptions.
“He went from being cautious Case to careless Case tonight in the ball game,” Clough said.
The quarterback said after the game that the challenge helped him “play loose” but there were a few plays he would want back.
“I can’t make those mistakes, so there’s a fine line to play there. But I think you’ve got do a little it more,” Keenum said.
On the night, Keenum had 31 completions on 48 attempts for 257 yards and two interceptions.
However, Clough said Keenum was the “ultimate neutral factor” on the game, not making this worse or better for the Broncos.
“I don’t believe that Case Keenum is good enough to have a significant impact on winning nor is he bad enough to have a significant effect on a losing football team,” Clough said.
And because of Keenum being a non-factor either way for the Broncos, Clough said, he’ll be back in 2019 because it’s unlikely that a quarterback, even a first-round pick next season, would “emerge as somebody ready, willing, and able to lead the Broncos back to the playoffs in 2019.”
“I think Case Keenum will get his second year here as the starting quarterback, and then the Broncos will be changing, as they have so often changed since Peyton Manning’s retirement following Super Bowl 50,” Clough said.
