Pritchard doesn’t see Kubiak leaving Broncos front office to be an OC

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Denver Broncos senior personnel adviser Gary Kubiak may consider returning to coaching in an offensive coordinator role if approached with the opportunity.

On Monday, “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Mike Pritchard said that would be a big blow to the Broncos but he doesn’t see Kubiak leaving a front office to go back to coaching.

“That would be a humongous impact. I just don’t see it though,” Pritchard said. “You’re really going to go from a front office to an offensive coordinator job?”

However, Pritchard said if Kubiak’s heart is truly set on calling plays again, he doesn’t know if anyone “can stop that temptation.

Pritchard’s co-host, Cecil Lammey, said on Monday that not only should the Broncos already be grooming Kubiak to take over as general manager but also the club could use that to entice him to stay if offered an offensive coordinator job.

“Broncos, do whatever you can to keep Gary Kubiak around,” Lammey said.

Said Pritchard: “Outside of Aaron Rodgers, what other quarterback do you think coach Kubiak would want to work with? … Where would he go? Where would he be enticed enough to drop a potential GM job and be an offensive coordinator?

Kubiak has been in the senior personnel adviser role with the Broncos for two seasons and previously coached the team in 2015 and 2016.

He last held an offensive coordinator role with the Baltimore Ravens in 2014.
