The Drive with DMac & Troy Renck LIVE IN STUDIO!!!
Troy Renck filled in for Big Al today. Dmac and Troy kick off the hour debating which of the Fan hosts (Mike Evans, Cecil Lammey, Zach Bye and Sandy) has the most impressive athletic background. Dmac asks Troy his thoughts on the idea that Case Keenum’s effort level has dropped because he wrote a book. Troy doubles down on his notion that the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos is the most high-profile job in Colorado, and it is a bigger responsibility than Case Keenum thought it would be. As the highest-paid athlete in Denver sports history, does Nikola Jokic owe the fans and media more of an explanation in the midst of his poor play? The guys debate who the best two-sport athlete of all time is. Dmac and Troy discuss whether the officials made the right call by ejecting Eric Reid after his hit on Big Ben. The guys discuss Dez Bryant’s season ending injury, Marcus Peters snapping back at Sean Peyton and Odell Beckham’s bold claim regarding the Giants. Dmac turns back the clock to take a look at the free agent quarterbacks, other than Peyton Manning, in 2012, which includes one prominent player who is still starting today. Would the Broncos be better set up for long-term success had they signed someone other than Peyton Manning?
Dmac and Troy react to Pittsburgh’s offensive explosion, and Christian McCaffrey’s big night on Thursday Night Football. Which young quarterback from this year’s draft class has the best chance to have a Hall of Fame career? Dmac makes his case for one particular player. The guys talk about some of the young head coaches, and potential candidates, around the league. Dmac breaks down whether or not the Broncos could have/should have made a quarterback move instead of drafting Garett Bolles. Nick Kosmider, Denver Nuggets beat writer for The Athletic, joined the program to talk about Jokic’s offensive struggles in recent games, and his noticeably short answers during press conferences.
Dmac and Troy discuss the remaining games on the Broncos’ schedule. Is there a point to trying to salvage the season at the cost of a high draft pick? Should the team be in rebuild mode, or try to win now? The guys make their picks for this week’s Fan Football Pick’Em. Dmac was shamed last week, will he redeem himself on Sunday? The guys close out the show previewing the many sporting events happening around Colorado this weekend. High School playoffs are happening tonight, and the Nuggets, Avalanche, Buffaloes, Rams and Falcons will all be playing between tomorrow and Sunday.
