Chad Kelly, backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos, was arrested in Englewood early Tuesday morning.
According to a release from the Englewood Police Department, Kelly was arrested without incident on a charge of first-degree criminal trespass and transported to Arapahoe County Jail.
“We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning. Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information,” the Broncos said in a statement.
Sources tell 104.3 The Fan’s Orlando Franklin that Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly was intoxicated at the team’s annual Halloween party Monday night ahead of his arrest early Tuesday morning.
“… That’s what I’m being told right now. That they had their annual Halloween party last night, and he was pretty messed up out there and that’s what happened,” Franklin told “Pritchard and Cecil” on Tuesday.
According to the release, Englewood police officers responded to a disturbance on the 3200 block of South Lincoln Street where a male had been reported standing outside a residence.
As police responded, they received information that the male was not inside the residence.
Officers began to search an area near the Gothic Theatre for the male, who had been chased out of the residence by an occupant. A short time later police located the male, who matched a description provided by the homeowner and was identified as Kelly.
An investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available as of mid-morning Tuesday.
