Stokley: Vance Joseph earns a few more weeks ‘extension’ with win

It appears that for at least the time being the head coach position with the Denver Broncos will remain filled by Vance Joseph.
With speculation that a loss to Arizona on Thursday could cost Joseph his job, the Broncos trampled the Cardinals in extraordinary fashion, 45-10.
And with the resounding victory, “Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley said Joseph bought himself at least a few more weeks at the helm of the Broncos.
“I think Vance has given himself an extension here,” Stokley said. “It was obvious he was fighting for his job last night against the Cardinals. They had to get a win. And the performance that they put out there and what they looked like, that goes a long way. So, now he’s got an extension.”
The comments come after “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said before the game that a win only “delays the inevitable” in terms of Joseph’s job status.
““I don’t think it changes (the narrative) at all. I’ve told you all week, last week, the wheels are in motion as far as I’m concerned. I don’t think a win changes anything,” Schlereth said on Wednesday.
After the game, Joseph shrugged off the suggestion that he would be relieved because of the performance.
“I’m not concerned about me. It’s a good win for our football team,” Joseph said. “It has been a tough, tough two weeks. We had a tough loss on Sunday. We had a short week, so it’s really good for our football team to win a game.
“These guys work so hard. They came in on Monday night and practiced and didn’t complain about a short week and played their best football game of the year. So, it was never about me, it’s about our team.”
