Analysis: 104.3 The Fan hosts react to Broncos 27-14 loss at Ravens

The Denver Broncos had missed opportunities and more than a dozen penalties in its loss on the road to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday 27-14. Here’s what our 104.3 The Fan hosts think:

DMac (“The Drive”):

No surprise in today’s game. The Broncos have been awful on the road under Vance Joseph and looked just as bad as last year. Nothing shaped up well, and Denver delivered a ton of nothingness.

The difference was how dumb the Broncos played in terms of penalties. If it wasn’t for a couple of blocked kicks and a silly block in the back the Ravens may have won this one by 30.

Sadly, Denver doesn’t appear to be much of a different team than last year. They will have a stern test against Kansas City next Monday night where we will get the true measure of this team.

But there’s no reason to freak out. Keep calm. There are many ways this team can get better quickly.

Mike Pritchard (“Pritchard and Cecil”):

The Broncos lost their composure and got exposed on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.

Poor performances from everyone and injuries illustrate that the Broncos still have a ton of work to do.

Orlando Franklin and John Davis:

Sandy Clough:

Cecil Lammey (“Pritchard and Cecil”):

The turnovers continue to be a problem for quarterback Case Keenum. The offensive line didn’t do him any favors, but he was only sacked three times on Sunday and part of the reason why is because he keeps holding onto the ball too long.

Where has the game manager gone?

Keenum was supposed to be better than he was last year with Minnesota, where he only had seven interceptions over the 2017 season. He’s leading the league with five interceptions right now after only three games starting with the Broncos.

Against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 on Monday Night Football, the Broncos will be embarrassed if Keenum continues to struggle with turnovers.

Zach Bye (“Stokley and Zach”):

The feeling that I have following the Broncos loss in Baltimore is somewhat similar to the sentiment I’d have after all too many losses in 2017: An undisciplined football team that didn’t have enough offensive firepower.

You simply cannot give up 120 yards in penalties and expect to win. You certainly can’t expect to get away with it on the road. You also aren’t going to win many games with an offense that at one point in the game had nine consecutive drives end in a punt.

The offensive line didn’t help Case Keenum Sunday, but Keenum didn’t help himself much either, turning the ball over in the red zone again. Last year Keenum made headlines with a 3-1 TD-Interception ratio. Through three games in 2018, he’s upside down in that same ratio.

He’s come up big in crunch time, that’s true. But the lack of consistency is catching up with Keenum and this football team.
