The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO! Adam Schefter joins the show to talk about his hand injury, and what to expect from tonight’s Monday Night Football game. Big Al asks Schefter about the backup QB market in the NFL and Schefter wonders what other teams are driving up the Broncos’ price. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to decide if the Rockies are good enough right now to avoid a let-down against the Padres.
Al comes to the realization that Bradley Chubb is not Von Miller. DMac says it was cool to see DeMarcus Walker get a sack, and wonders if he noticed something different about the Broncos defense. Big Al laughs about the Broncos’ attempted flea-flicker, and DMac says that play could be lethal if we give Keenum more time. Also, DMac thinks Case Keenum’s biggest challenge in his life is being short. Adam Schefter joins the show to talk about his hand injury, and what to expect from tonight’s Monday Night Football game. Big Al asks Schefter about the backup QB market in the NFL and Schefter wonders what other teams are driving up the Broncos’ price. DMac says look no further than the NY Jets QB room for a possible answer in Denver, and Schefter agrees. Also, Schefter explains why Paxton Lynch’s trade value is all dried up. Listen to the interview HERE! In the Big 3, DMac says goodbye to Menelik Watson & his wedding bells, and the guys are impressed with Phillip Lindsay as Denver’s virtual Christian McCaffrey-type of player. Big Al can’t believe Isaiah McKenzie is about to get cut, and DMac explains why McKenzie is now expendable. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to decide if the Rockies are good enough right now to avoid a let-down against the Padres. Big Al notices that Matt Holliday has been tearing it up, and asks Patrick if he could help spark the Rockies’ offense. Listen to the interview HERE!
The boys dive into Sandy Clough’s comments earlier today in the Fan War Room about the Broncos being a mediocre team just like the Bears, and why Denver should kill teams with Emmanuel Sanders this year. Also, DMac says when in doubt, throw it up to Courtland Sutton. DMac tells Big Al John Elway is convinced Case Keenum is the future at QB in Denver, and Big Al is okay with Chad Kelly being the backup. Al pleads with the Broncos, saying Paxton Lynch can’t even operate the scout team without messing things up, and we have no room for dead weight in Denver. DMac touches on the AP poll in college football, and wonders if McCaffrey is getting work at Michigan. Big Al disagrees with DMac about Broncos fans coming to the game just to boo Paxton Lynch, and DMac says it is simply rude. The boys dig in on the NFL’s new rule changes, and how the players are going to have to adjust in the 2018 season. Big Al says sometimes there will be nothing a defensive player can do, but he’s all for protecting the players.
The guys talk about Jeff Heuerman running the Bears over, and Big Al needs DMac & the fellas to talk him through the new rule changes to keep the players safe. Big Al is confused on what defensive players are supposed to do, and how the league is supposed to execute the rules without taking the fun out of the game of football. Al & DMac play some audio of Brian Griese defending the rookies, and why we should see the end of rookie haircuts in Denver. DMac gets jealous of all the ‘pretty’ 9NEWS anchors that replaced Ron Zappolo instead of him. Big Al wonders how many times the Broncos punted when Paxton was in control of the offense, and DMac laughs at the Chicago Bears special teams. DMac notices we’ve never had a bad punter here in Denver.
