Should the Broncos move Lynch to another position to up trade value?

With the Denver Broncos demoting Paxton Lynch to third-team, one question lingers: Does the team trade or cut their former first-round quarterback.

On Wednesday, Troy Renck said during “Schlereth and Evans” the demotion essentially means Denver will move on from Lynch and, in absence of a trade, the Broncos must cut the third-year pro.

“You don’t want him in the locker room,” Renck said. “If it’s about changing culture, changing expectation, you can’t keep him in the locker room. It’s not fair to him or the team.”

However, trading Lynch might be difficult, as ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter said last week — ahead of the Broncos loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday — that the trade value for Lynch was slim to none.

“I don’t think he’s got much value around the league. He doesn’t have until he shows something in Denver, which he hasn’t done,” Schefter said.

But “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Mike Pritchard suggested on Wednesday perhaps an alternative way to go about increasing Lynch’s trade value: moving him to another position.

“We all know the NFL is Bizzaro World in which the unknown is more valuable than the known. So, there’s no value because you know Paxton can’t play quarterback. But the unknown about his athleticism, now you’re creating a market,” Pritchard said.

Pritchard suggested the idea of moving Lynch to wide receiver or an “eligible” player role to pump up his trade market.

“I don’t know how they lose if they just go up to Paxton and say, look, quarterback is not going to work out for you.  We need you to change positions,” Pritchard said.

“Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley, however, dismissed the idea outright, saying there’s no way Lynch could actually move positions.

“He would be the furthest from helping this football team out. There is no transitioning from quarterback to any other position for Paxton Lynch,” Stokley said. “It’s just not happening.”
