The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO! DMac points out how upset Paxton Lynch was after losing his backup QB job to Chad Kelly, and Al notices how well Paxton practiced today when the pressure was off.
DMac is back from his trip to New England, and asks Al about Demaryius Thomas & Brandon Marshall not coming out on the field for the National Anthem. DMac asks Al if he has a problem with the Broncos signing A.J. Johnson after his rape acquittal, and Big Al is excited about Kordell Stewart headlining the 2018 University of Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame class. The boys laugh at Brooks Koepka not being intimidated by Tiger Woods, and determine if Urban Meyer had a duty to report an issue at Ohio State. DMac points out how upset Paxton Lynch was after losing his backup QB job to Chad Kelly, and Al notices how well Paxton practiced today when the pressure was off. Also, DMac is sad about losing Ron Zappolo from the Broncos preseason broadcast team in the booth.
DMac asks Big Al if he’s been keeping an eye on the first-round QBs in the preseason, and Al tells DMac he’s concerned about the Broncos’ linebacker core. The guys agree Shane Ray should be used as trade bait to land Teddy Bridgewater, and DMac wants the Browns to start Baker Mayfield. A caller claims that the Broncos have lost all their ‘dawgs’ and it became obvious in the preseason game against the Vikings, and Al says look no further than Derek Wolfe for a remaining ‘dawg’ on the team. DMac has lost his confidence in Joe Woods, and Big Al says there’s nothing worse than missing on a first-round QB. Big Al starts hating on the Tim Tebow pick in Denver, and wonders how bad it will need to get before Vance Joseph is fired. Al can’t believe crowd noise was such a factor in the Broncos’ Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks. The guys figure out the best ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ pick in NFL history, and if Chad Kelly has a chance to surpass them. DMac says the Denver offense gave the punt team plenty of chances, and looks forward to Shamarko Thomas replacing Jamal Carter & his torn hamstring.
Big Al says Paxton didn’t execute & that’s why he lost his job, and Chad Kelly & Phillip Lindsay had the most impressive big plays for the Broncos on Saturday. Also, DMac asks Al about Joe Woods’ problems with gap control, and Al praises Derek Wolfe for his tenacious play. DMac is pumped about the red-hot Colorado Rockies, and the guys point out the fact that Jose Altuve is hurt & the Houston Astros have been struggling. DMac mentions the crazy story of David Bote, and Al can’t believe how tight the NL Wild Card race is. The boys check in with Big Sexy for a weather report, and listen to a caller rip on Devontae Booker for his lack of vision in the backfield.
