The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO for Training Camp 2018! DMac expects the Broncos’ Special Teams to be better this year, including Isaiah McKenzie & Marquette King, and Al previews what to expect from Jake Butt & Austin Traylor.
DMac can’t believe Phillip Lindsay was not drafted, and says the offense this year looks like it’s supposed to look. Big Al says Denver can create some mismatches with Lindsay, and he’s excited to see Courtland Sutton in jump-ball situations. Also, Al notices the light crowds, injuries in camp & beautiful weather, as well as Shelby Harris staring at a ‘Malik Jackson-type’ contract next season. DMac expects the Broncos’ Special Teams to be better this year, including Isaiah McKenzie & Marquette King, and Al previews what to expect from Jake Butt & Austin Traylor. Also, DMac takes a vote on naming the Colorado Springs affiliate for the Colorado Rockies, and Al wonders if LeBron dunking in pregame with his son is a bad look. The latest on the Broncos’ O-Line, including Connor McGovern starting at Right Guard & Garett Bolles’ injury, and Al’s thoughts on Aqib Talib’s ‘dawgs’ comment. Al says Shane Ray looks good once again, and DMac asks what we should trade for Teddy Bridgewater.
DMac laughs at Philly Brown’s head injury while lifting weights, and asks Al about the importance of having Garett Bolles healthy. DMac says Big Al was right about drafting Ryan Ramczyk, and Al notices how salty DMac is about players bringing their kids to Training Camp 2018. The guys try to get Pat Bowlen into the Hall of Fame this year, and note the accommodations for friends & family. Al & DMac help direct the listeners to the website so they can sign a petition to get Pat Bowlen into the HOF. Al says Pat Bowlen was the most competitive Bronco of all time. Al says the defensive line is deep, but the Broncos’ issue this season will be with the secondary. DMac notes Tramaine Brock was dinged up today, and Al talks about the depth chart & how many backs & receivers the Broncos will keep on the roster. We hear from Derek Wolfe about the Broncos avoiding fights, and DMac notes how much this year’s comments differ from those last year. Al mentions Gary Kubiak roaming the sidelines & never getting old, and how everything feels different now.
Big Al mentions the Denver Broncos that were at the O-Line summit over the summer, and Menelik Watson’s mobility issues. DMac tells Al he learned something about Case Keenum over the weekend, and Al explains why competition at every position is important, even at quarterback. Al can’t understate just how deep this year’s defensive line is for Denver, and believes this is the best line the Broncos have assembled since their Super Bowl 50 run. DMac gives it up for the Colorado Rockies & their recent homestand, and the guys discuss the Rockies’ open seats ticket policy to get people to the game. Big Al is impressed with the Rockies pitching, and thinks we’ve finally figured things out on the bump.
