We hear audio from the media BBQ today out at Dove Valley ahead of Training Camp 2018. The guys talk about Joe Ellis’ affection for Brittany Bowlen, and why the Broncos are moving away from Beth Bowlen when it comes to ownership. Ellis says there is no timetable or checklist, and mentions the possibility of selling the team. Also, Al & DMac decide if it’s time for a new stadium & new ownership, or if things should be kept in the family. DMac talks about the books Vance Joseph has been reading, and how VJ has been staying prepared for the 2018 NFL season. Big Al mentions Jason Verrett’s terrible Achilles injury, and the guys don’t expect the National Anthem to be an issue in Denver. We hear from Demaryius Thomas on how his leadership can be improved on, and Al is certain that VJ is taking the steps necessary to be a successful NFL head coach. DMac notices that VJ has been thinking deeply, and has decided that he doesn’t have to answer media questions fully if he doesn’t want to.
Colin Cowherd calls the Broncos a dumpster fire, and the guys debate how good Case Keenum really is. Al says we still don’t know about Bill Musgrave, and Elway isn’t currently concerned about competing down the road. Also, Al wants to know what teams draft a first-rounder & don’t play them. The boys wonder what attendance will be like at Training Camp 2018, and lay out what days would be best for fans to go watch some Broncos football at Dove Valley. Troy Renck joins the show to talk about the importance of a successful season in 2018, and what Broncos players are feeling the most pressure, including DT & Emmanuel. Troy says Joe Ellis was more candid than usual about the Broncos’ ownership situation, and Ellis still feels like he owes it to Pat Bowlen to see things through. Also, the window is slightly cracked regarding the possibility of selling the team, and why the NFL hates distractions. Listen to the interview HERE! The fellas take a look around the AFC West, and lay down their locks for the Broncos schedule in 2018. DMac thinks the Seattle Seahawks game in Week 1 is the easiest on the schedule for Denver, and Al thinks it will be the NY Jets game on the road.
Big Al says it’s common sense at this point to go with Case Keenum over Paxton Lynch, and we hear thoughts & comments from John Elway on Gary Kubiak, as well as the backup QB situation. VJ tells the press he wants a precise & efficient passing game in 2018, and for the Broncos to run the ball ‘at will.’ Big Al says no one likes another person telling them how to run their business, and the guys dive into Malcolm Jenkins’ comments about Jerry Jones being a bully. Al says things work out better for businesses that do right by their players. DMac talks about the unfortunate situation Tapia is in, and the guys preview the Oakland A’s series at Coors this weekend. Also, Big Al tells DMac why he’s been so impressed with Carlos Gonzalez lately.
