The Drive with DMac & Chad Brown LIVE IN STUDIO! DMac opens the show crying about his knee, and Chad asks him if he’ll use the knee injury as motivation to rehab & get in shape. DMac says his injury is much worse than the Garett Bolles & Nancy Kerrigan injuries, and the guys give their thoughts on Kyle Schwarber’s performance in the HR Derby & if Bryce Harper is worth a mega-deal.
The guys talk about Bryce Harper possibly cheating in the MLB HR Derby, and Chad puts together an All-Retirement team featuring Joe Thomas & Carson Palmer. DMac explains why Joe Thomas signed a deal with the devil. DMac dives into the news about LeVeon Bell turning down a big deal from the Pittsburgh Steelers, and says Bell is wildly out of touch when it comes to value of NFL running backs. Chad says Bell is the modern-day equivalent of Marshall Faulk.
Chad & DMac talk about the SI.com article on the hardships involved with NFL ownership succession plans. DMac says the Broncos are one of the teams under a microscope with Pat Bowlen’s declining health. DMac says 40 is the magic number for the Bowlen children in Pat’s succession plan, and gives Chad some fun facts about Pat Bowlen & the way he did things in Denver. Also, DMac lays out how the Broncos name can stay in the Bowlen family for the next 33 years. DMac says things are currently unsettled with Broncos ownership, and teams have to rebuild constantly like a lizard’s tail. The guys talk about winners & loser, and if it’s dictated by ownership. DMac says the ‘Pat Bowlen way’ works & his family can execute the plan. The boys hear some funny stories about Smash Mouth playing concerts & their fascination with bread-throwing. DMac says some summer concert festivals can be brutal, and maybe ‘I Love the 90’s’ is the way to go. Also, DMac tells Chad it’s going to be hard not calling Case Keenum ‘Chase’ at his pressers.
DMac has beef with Bryce Harper’s dad & parents holding their kids back from achieving true success. The guys talk about dads in sports and if there’s a time for a parent to just let their kid go play the sports they love on their own. DMac says after last night’s HR Derby, every dad & son should run out and start practicing hitting home-run balls. Chad talks about going to three Pro-Bowls in Hawaii & sharing a hot tub with Hall of Famers. Also, Big Sexy helps Chad & DMac out with the swirling trade rumors surrounding Manny Machado & the LA Dodgers. DMac tells Chad there was nobody working harder than he did back in the day.
