Rockies SS Story named NL Player of the Week heading into break
Jul 16, 2018, 1:36 PM
If launching a walk-off home run to start your week as an All-Star, earning National League Player of the Week honors is the cherry on top for Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story.
Story, who launched a game-winning solo shot in the ninth inning Sunday to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3, hit .400 with three home runs and three doubles with an OPS of 1.303 during the past week.
The third-year Major Leaguer enters the All-Star break with 20 home runs and career-best tallies in batting average (.292), on-base percentage, (.353), and slugging percentage (.557).
Earlier this season, Nolan Arenado earned the Rockies first N.L. Player of the Week honors for the 2018 season.
Both Arenado and Story will join Charlie Blackmon in Washington, D.C., this week for the 89th MLB All-Star Game at Nationals Park.
