Bradley Chubb finally signs his rookie deal with the Broncos, and Pritch tells Cecil if you have leverage as a player, you should hold out. The guys talk about premium edge players like Clowney & Bosa, and what makes for the typical 3-4 end body-type. Also, why Bradley Chubb can be a game-changer in this Broncos defense & why expectations for Garett Bolles are now higher than ever before. In the Big 3, Pritch tells Cecil Jameis Winston is getting close to bust material after hearing the story of Winston’s looming suspension following allegations by an Uber driver in 2016. Pritch can’t believe how players are getting hurt these days after hearing of Hunter Strickland’s injury, and asks Cecil if the Eagles should be rushing Carson Wentz back after a gruesome knee injury last season. Cecil tells Pritch he’s no longer waiting on the edge of his seat for the NBA Draft like he used to be. Cecil says he’s fallen out of love with the sport, and Pritch admits he doesn’t tune into the NBA until May. Also, Big Sexy explains why he fell out of love with the NFL.
The boys talk about the hype & anticipation leading up to the NBA Draft, and what makes for high drama. Cecil wonders if ‘super-teams’ are ruining the NBA, and Big Sexy notes the parity in the NCAA as a reason why there are no longer obvious college superstars. The guys laugh at audio of Baker Mayfield going off on Colin Cowherd for painting him as a selfish teammate, and Cecil relates the story to Jim Everett nearly destroying Jim Rome on his show years ago. Cecil & Pritch discuss the impact of Bradley Chubb in year one, and Pritch explains how Chubb’s impact will be felt throughout the locker room & why it goes deeper than Chubb’s sack numbers in 2018. Cecil asks Pritch if the Nuggets will do anything of note as the NBA Draft approaches, and Pritch says the Nuggets are closer in the Western Conference than they appear. Also, Cecil says shoe companies run the show in the NBA.
The guys talk about Kenneth Faried & if he has the attitude & willingness to work in a specific role alongside Nikola Jokic. Big Sexy says we’re watching a culture change go down in Denver, and Pritch says it’s crazy to think the Nuggets can flip a switch & be successful. Also, Cecil & Pritch talk about Paxton Lynch out-playing Chad Kelly and if both QBs still have some work to do in training camp. Cecil & Pritch talk about the Rockies going on a winning streak, and Pritch is unsure about the mindset of a closer once they are broken. Pritch notes that Colorado is not the only MLB team with issues, it’s all about if they can turn things around in time. Also, Deandre Ayton is selected by the Suns with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. The guys are excited for ‘I Love the 90’s’ at Fiddlers, and review the initial five picks of the NBA draft. Big Sexy reminds everyone that the Nuggets drafted Donovan Mitchell last year before trading the pick.
