The Drive with Big Al & Chad Brown LIVE IN STUDIO! Al tells Chad he knew Von Miller’s game would transfer to the NFL, and laughs about Von going undercover as a waiter passing out wine with straws promoting ‘Taste of the Broncos.’
Al & Chad talk about a new role for the Rockies’ Bryan Shaw, and if Popovich can save Kawhi from leaving for Los Angeles. Al can see a Lakers super-team coming together with LeBron, Paul George & Kawhi, and asks Chad if the days of the veteran coach are dead. In the Big 3, the guys pay their respects to ‘Vader’ and talk about loaded teams in the NBA. Al & Chad agree about being fans of teams that repeat, and Al points out that it happens in baseball all the time. Al tells Chad he knew Von Miller’s game would transfer to the NFL, and laughs about Von going undercover as a waiter passing out wine with straws promoting ‘Taste of the Broncos.’ Al wonders if Von is a ‘mega-star’ like Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers, and the guys pull up the jersey sales to boost Miller’s case as one of the true superstars in the NFL.
Al & Chad discuss the name change to ‘Broncos Stadium at Mile High’ and Chad wonders how hard it will be to break the habit of saying ‘Mile High Stadium.’ Chad tells Al about Mercedes-Benz Stadium & the atmosphere at the National Championship game. The guys talk about players knowing when the NFL drug tests them, and if players that get caught & fail a test are stupid. Also, discussion regarding Canada legalizing cannabis & what effects it might have moving forward. Al asks Chad about Terrell Owens’ 40-yard-dash time & if T.O. could do it on Sundays at 44 years old. Chad brings up the physical shape Jerry Rice was in when he retired, and notes that the toughest thing is doing it every week. Al & Chad laugh about the confidence change in Dick LeBeau’s players, and how he is able to relate so well with his players despite his advanced age. Al brings up Wade Phillips and the connection he had with the Denver defensive players.
Big Al loves great playcallers like Darrell Bevell & Scott Frost, and Chad says there’s advantages still in power old-school elements of football. Al wonders if going young, like with Sean McVay & Kyle Shanahan, is now the right decision to make when looking for an NFL head coach. Al wants a five-run cushion when the Rockies hand the ball over to their bullpen, and tells Chad the games at Coors are still fun as long as they win. Chad tells Al the Rockies must treat a broken Bryan Shaw like a mental injury, and the guys try to figure out why teams are getting so many hits off him. Al starts to wonder if star athletes are on their way to Los Angeles to be in movies, and mentions athletes like LeBron & Shaq as examples. Chad says The Rock is the best athlete-turned-actor and Big Sexy throws out some honorable mentions.
