The Drive with Big Al & Chad Brown LIVE in studio!!! The fellas rank their top quarterbacks in the AFC West, and Al asks Chad Brown if his rankings are satisfactory. Chad tries to piece together an argument for Case Keenum to leapfrog Philip Rivers in the AFC West QB rankings, and Al notes the unorthodox style Rivers throws with.
Al & Chad Brown talk about playing at CU and who had the best parties, as well as why Chad chose to stay in the great state of Colorado. Also, Brooks Koepka’s performance at the US Open & what to do with Phil Mickelson now that he’s broken the rules. In the Big 3, Chad tells Big Al the Rockies’ locker room was looking & sounding like a funeral yesterday, and Big Al mentions Trevor Story catching fire & Nolan Arenado’s Gold Glove. Also, what it’s like waiting for Colorado’s pitching to turn around, PUMA’s basketball re-launch & T.O. not going to the Hall of Fame. Al & Chad argue about T.O.’s decision not to go to his Hall of Fame induction, and if Owens is being selfish in his decision not to attend. Chad says the numbers aren’t everything, and Al supports T.O. and whatever party he wants to throw instead.
Chad mentions Rivers’ advantages, including the ability to throw with his body instead of his legs, and brings up the weapons surrounding Rivers as a reason why he’s been successful. Al is quick to note the weapons available to Keenum this year, and the advantages Denver will have when they go three-wide. Al does some studying on Nick Foles & the Run-Pass-Option system. Al points to RPO’s as the reason why Case Keenum can become elite. Al wants to single out opposing linebackers & make the game simpler for Keenum. Al asks Chad if the Broncos are taking Paxton Lynch out of his game, and explains why he will be frustrated when the Denver QBs don’t make the right read.
Al wonders about the Broncos OLBs and why we don’t have an outside linebackers coach to start out the 2018 season. Al says it doesn’t seem like DeMarcus Ware wants to be a coach, and Chad says he’s never been around a part-time situation like Ware’s. The guys talk about the new CBA & Jon Gruden’s comments on the ‘Patriot Way’ finding versatile players that can adapt to win a game. Al asks Chad about the sights & sounds of the World Cup & if he’s been intrigued by the storylines so far. Also, we hear the passion behind Mexico’s goal against the Germans.
