Stokley: 3 Broncos can make NFL.com’s All-Under-25 in 2019

Jun 17, 2018, 9:55 PM | Updated: 10:48 pm

Those looking for Denver Broncos on the NFL.com All-Under-25 team released last week will be out of luck.

Among the 11 defensive, 11 offense, and three special teams players compiled by NFL Network analyst Elliot Harrison, not one played in orange and blue last season.

However, if things go according to plan, things could change in a big way for the Broncos in terms of representation on the list this time next year, Brandon Stokley said Friday.

The “Stokley and Zach” co-host said as many as three from Denver’s 2018 rookie class could make the All-Under-25 squad by next season, should expectations be met.

“If we revisit this in a year, we would have a couple guys on this list. And we will next year,” Stokley said. “Bradley Chubb. Courtland Sutton. Those just to start. And you might have a running back in that group too — Royce Freeman.”

Among the reasons Stokley gave for Chubb, Sutton, and Freeman making the list is the trio’s likelihood of being featured heavily on the field in 2018.

“I think all three of those guys are going to play a lot of football, and all three of those guys have a great opportunity to be really good football players and to make an impact next year,” Stokley said.

Stokley said it wouldn’t surprise him if Freeman gets the majority of the carries for the Broncos and is the Day One starter when the team opens up against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 9.

Likewise, Stokley said it wouldn’t be a surprise if Chubb brings down the quarterback 12 times his rookie season.

“I think if those two accomplish those things, they could be on this list,”

And Sutton, Stokley said, could put up somewhere between 30 and 40 catches for 500  yards, five touchdowns, and a long of 75 yards, Stokley said.

“Would that surprise you? It wouldn’t surprise me at all. Not one bit. And he could be bigger than that number-wise,” Stokley said.

“So, you look at those three guys, I think all three of those guys could make this list next year.”
