The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Ryan Spilborghs joins the show to help put an end to the bunt debate when it comes to breaking up a no-hitter, as the Rockies had a chance to do that today against Jordan Lyles & the Padres.
The guys talk about the new Star Wars movie ‘Solo’ and try to ruin Jordan Lyles’ perfect game. DMac says CarGo should throw down a bunt against the shift to break up the no-no, and Big Al says CarGo is not that type of player. In the Big 3, Al wonders what if LeBron played in the Western Conference, and if things would be different in Denver if the Nuggets drafted King James. DMac doesn’t think Al believes in the Nuggets, even with LeBron, and the guys debate if Denver will ever win a championship. Al & DMac talk about the ‘code of baseball’ and DMac says he wouldn’t hesitate in laying down a bunt to break up a no-hitter. Al says he wouldn’t bunt, and integrity plays a role in his decision.
DMac notes that Colin Kaepernick was seen at DIA today, and asks Big Al if there’s any significance to it. DMac says the Broncos are not going anywhere with Paxton, and Drew Goodman agrees with him about bunting. Big Al wants to find out from DMac how many Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks are currently in the NFL, and the two of them hammer out a list eight players long, including Matt Ryan & Cam Newton. Big Al wants to know why Rich Gannon isn’t in the Hall of Fame, and DMac brings up Boomer Esiason. Big Al wants to know if DMac would take Brad Johnson, Alex Smith or John Kitna on this Broncos roster. DMac gets in an argument with ‘Vicki’ about the Broncos believing in Keenum, and if a two-year deal is the sign of trust in a player.
Big Al says Case Keenum’s contract is a trial-and-error experiment, and tells DMac his rookie QB plan made no sense. DMac says the Broncos should go get Teddy Bridgewater if the NY Jets let him go, and he’d take Josh McCown over Paxton Lynch. Big Al cautions everyone about rookie stats, and explains why it’s so hard to make an impact in your rookie season. The guys decide how safe Paxton Lynch’s job is this season, and debate the cracks in Bud Black’s plan. DMac asks Al who he would rather have on the roster when it comes to available QBs over Paxton Lynch. Ryan Spilborghs joins the show to help put an end to the bunt debate when it comes to breaking up a no-hitter, as the Rockies had a chance to do that today against Jordan Lyles & the Padres. Spilly believes in the integrity of the game, and asks Big Al if there are any superstitions in the NFL like there are in MLB. Listen to the interview HERE!
