Big Al: ‘Feels like’ Broncos will trade down, ‘no slam dunk first pick’

Amid the speculation about who the Denver Broncos will select with the No. 5 pick in this year’s NFL Draft — or if they’ll move up to grab someone they highly covet — Alfred Williams said the feeling he gets out of Dove Valley is the club will trade down.

On Thursday, the co-host of “The Drive” said he’s been “doing more work” on evaluating quarterbacks, and there’s “no slam dunk first pick in this year’s NFL Draft.”

“It feels like the Broncos are going to trade out of No. 5,” Williams said. “I don’t believe they take a quarterback there.”

The comments come after an interview on “The Rich Eisen Show” wherein highly-touted draft prospect Bradley Chubb said he had not yet met with the Broncos.

Of Chubb’s comments, Williams said, “What it means is that they believe in the guys that they have on the roster.”

On Thursday night, Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer also indicated the Broncos could be moving down out of the No. 5 draft slot, specifically if they can’t land a quarterback they like with the pick.

Breer reported that two names connected with the Broncos — Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson and Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward — could possibly “be available further down the line.
