The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Why Todd Helton should be remembered as the greatest Rockies player, and the guys want to see Carlos Gonzalez hit for the cycle at the Rockies’ home opener today. DMac thinks this might be the worst Opening Day in 25 years.
Al & DMac talk about the best Rockies of all-time and which ones paved the way to the Rockies current success. The guys laugh about the Denver Post’s blunder and DMac calls it one of the most humiliating moments in the history of the paper. Also, why those that work at the Post deserve better & why Todd Helton should be remembered as the greatest Rockies player. The guys talk about Kevin Hogan wanting out & getting traded for, and if the Nuggets have turned the corner after getting a huge win at Pepsi Center last night. DMac warns Al that the Avs must win in regulation tomorrow, because an OT victory would not give them enough points to jump the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs standings. Also, Big Al warns DMac the Patriots are taking a look at Mason Rudolph today. The guys decide if Shohei Ohtani is for real or not, and talk about Rockies Opening Day as Colorado struggles out of the gate against Atlanta.
DMac tells Big Al that Gary Kubiak is being inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, and Big Al runs through his Texas athletic resume as the guys are left wondering what gives, and why Big Al can’t get some Texas HOF love. DMac notes the youth at QB in the NFL Draft this year, and asks Al how the Broncos could pass on a talent like Sam Darnold & if Josh Allen’s personality could work against him. The guys want to see Carlos Gonzalez hit for the cycle at the Rockies’ home opener today, as CarGo already has a home run at Coors Field. Also, DMac says it’s a shame what’s going on in baseball when it comes to netting making a difference. DMac talks about racing camels with robot jockeys, and Big Al talks about his favorite highlights on ESPN & how the current TV shows can’t hold a candle.
Big Al tells DMac he thinks many Colorado Rockies fans took today off to enjoy the festivities, and DMac says batters today no longer care about launch angle. Also, the boys decide if every athlete is elite or if some can get by on pure heart. DMac checks in on the playoff hopes of the Colorado Avalanche as they gear up to play the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at Pepsi Center. The guys talk about Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas and Chris Harris recruiting other players to come play for Denver, and Carlos Gonzalez’ style of play once he’s already hit a home run in a game.
