The Drive with DMac & Chad Brown LIVE in studio! Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to talk about any Rockies that have showed rust or fatigue through the first four games of the season, and why he expects Kyle Freeland to play free & easy tonight against the Padres.
The guys talk about the importance & value of a QB in the draft, and DMac says it’s about the glass being half-full or half-empty. DMac tells Chad the 2019 QB class is not strong, and we need to come together as a community for the Avs & Nuggets. DMac is hoping the Denver home teams make the playoffs, and tells Chad he’s missing Melo. Chad mentions Donte DiVincenzo deleting his twitter account following the National Championship game, and asks DMac if it should matter if DiVincenzo is white or black. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to talk about any Rockies that have showed rust or fatigue through the first four games of the season, and why he expects Kyle Freeland to play free & easy tonight against the Padres. DMac asks Patrick about winnable games that the Rockies need to lock down, and how to attack a 162-game baseball schedule. Listen to the interview HERE!
Chad & DMac break down the mega-trade between the LA Rams & New England Patriots, including a first-rounder for Brandin Cooks, and DMac asks Chad if we’re prepared to see the end of the Tom Brady era. Chad says the kind of moves New England is making are only made for a QB, and now the Browns win no matter what in the draft. Chad helps DMac with what rookie QBs the New England Patriots may be looking at, and DMac says the Rams are going for it now that they’ve landed Brandin Cooks. The guys figure out just how high the Pats are trying to climb in the draft, and Chad has his eye on the fourth overall selection. A suggestion is made that the broncos should trade their pick for Rob Gronkowski, and DMac asks Chad if there’s a TE in the draft with a similar skill-set to Gronk. DMac asks Chad how high the Pats would have to go in the draft to nab a Left Tackle, and Chad reiterates the importance of keeping Brady healthy. The guys talk about the random tests a player has to go through leading up to the draft, and Chad tells DMac his story about all the NFL teams giving him a look as he tried to make his way into the first round of the draft.
DMac is afraid the Rockies Home Opener could be snowed out this week, and tells Chad the big problem is nobody wants to work on Fridays. Callers suggest trading CJ Anderson to the Pats, and the guys decide what Denver could get for CJ. Also, what rookie QBs in this year’s draft remind DMac of Jay Cutler. The guys scour the free agent market as it lies, trying to find a TE or any last pieces the Broncos can capitalize on before the draft. DMac mentions how savvy Elway has been with his ’18 offseason trades, and how rare it is to pull those trades off. The guys debate if all this Patriots movement is to try & land Odell Beckham, and DMac asks Chad how much better OBJ is than Brandin Cooks. Chad says Odell Beckham Jr. & Gronk both demand double-coverage, and the Pats become impossible to guard with both on the same offense.
