The Drive with DMac & Cecil LIVE in studio! DMac opens the show with a story about how he didn’t have the presence of mind to pay for Josh Allen’s meal at The Library, and Cecil wants to stop calling Jon Gray the Rockies’ Ace after Gray gave up three runs in the first inning last night against the Diamondbacks.
DMac opens the show with a story about how he didn’t have the presence of mind to pay for Josh Allen’s meal at The Library, and Cecil wants to stop calling Jon Gray the Rockies’ Ace after Gray gave up three runs in the first inning last night against the Diamondbacks. DMac talks about the Chicago Blackhawks emergency goalie, Scott Foster the accountant, and Cecil asks DMac if he could see Rob Gronkowski getting traded. DMac says the only way is if Gronk’s body is truly done, and says he wouldn’t make the trade. Cecil brings up drafting Saquon Barkley, and DMac says you don’t need a back like that in Denver when the Broncos need more production than one player can provide. The guys compare Kareem Hunt, Saquon Barkley and DeAngelo Henderson.
DMac tells Cecil this is the only time he will advocate for Lamar Jackson, and Cecil debates the highest Jackson could go in the draft. Cecil finds out from DMac what’s so wrong with drafting Saquon Barkley, and DMac rattles through other positions of need the Broncos could address, including defensive line and Bradley Chubb. The guys talk about Paxton Lynch crying on the sideline after getting injured against the Raiders in 2017, and DMac says Paxton is now nothing but a massive wreck. Cecil says Paxton should have been able to handle the criticism that Trevor was able to, and DMac mentions the spots where Eric Decker slipped up here in Denver. Also, DMac explains why things are more fun when the Broncos are winning, and asks Broncos fans to stick together during this tough time when the team has made some mistakes.
Cecil tells DMac there might be as many as seven QBs selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and DMac mentions Stink hammering him for suggesting Lamar Jackson all the way up at pick No. 5 overall. Also, DMac asks Cecil what John Elway’s future roll with the team is going to be. The guys take calls on the Chicago Bears draft manifesto from last year when they landed Trubisky, and a caller throws out the idea of trading Von Miller to get to the No. 1 overall pick. Also, DMac says we have a quality punter in Riley Dixon & don’t need Marquette King, and the Broncos return game was playing scared last year. Cecil & DMac establish the upside with Lamar Jackson, and worst-case scenarios with Keenum as Denver’s QB1. DMac says the ‘slant’ route is still in DT’s wheelhouse, and the callers want to see Emmanuel Sanders moved to the slot.
