The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! James Palmer of NFL Network joins the show to talk about Case Keenum’s opportunity to build on his career here in Denver. Al says nothing phases Keenum, and he’s not bothered by Elway going to check out Josh Rosen’s pro day.
The guys check in on the NCAA tournament, and DMac loves when the games get close with under a minute left. Big Al remembers NO Saints owner Tom Benson, and DMac adds the Saints to the list of franchises with questionable ownership situations. Al says Tom Benson may have been married to NO, but the kids might be married to the money. In the Big 3 @ 3:30, the guys are hoping Tiger Woods is really playing well again, as they marvel at his 71-ft putt today at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Also, the guys explain how Von Miller’s restructured contract lowers his 2018 cap hit & helps the Broncos. The guys help Case Keenum look for a house in Denver, and DMac says Keenum will be hard to recognize, similar to Brandon Stokley at a Kenny Chesney concert. We hear audio from Case Keenum with James Palmer about being excited to establish himself in the Broncos locker room, and DMac offers up his response to Emmanuel Sanders recruiting Kirk Cousins before the Broncos landed Case Keenum. The boys agree Case Keenum isn’t exactly what Denver fans ordered or wanted, but could turn some heads & surprise early on. DMac gives it up for Case Keenum, Von Miller & Emmanuel Sanders’ social media game, and asks Al how Paxton Lynch earns the Broncos players’ respect. Al & DMac say the Broncos need to find their ‘point break’ and Al addresses player attitude & the conversations going on during pro days. Al says your pro day is up to your representation, and hopes Denver starts playing guys in their natural positions in 2018.
DMac hits Big Al with his 2018 NFL draft theory, and plays the priority game along the Broncos’ offensive line & says it’s all about the RT position right now. Al says the O-Line is suspect without an explosive game-changer at running back. Al & DMac look for placeholders with connections to Gary Kubiak, and DMac is excited about all the connections between Baker Mayfield & Gary Kubiak.
