Broncos reportedly near deal to send QB Trevor Siemian to Vikings

When the dust settles on day one of free agency, the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings appear to have, essentially, swapped quarterbacks.

Just following the Broncos officially announcing it had signed Case Keenum, who quarterbacked the Vikings to the NFC Championship game in 2017, to a two-year deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Denver was finalizing a deal to send Trevor Siemain to Minnesota.

Terms on the deal have not officially been announced, but ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports the Broncos will send Siemian and a 2018 late-round pick to the Vikings for a 2019 draft pick.

Siemian will join former Broncos backup Kyle Sloter in Minnesota, along with Kirk Cousins, who will reportedly sign a three-year, fully-guaranteed deal worth $84 million with the team Thursday.

The trade ends Siemian’s tenure in Denver, one that saw the former seventh-round pick seize the starting role during not one but two training camp quarterback competitions — in 2016 against Mark Sanchez and 2017 with Paxton Lynch.

In two seasons as the Broncos starter, Siemian went 13-11, throwing for 5,686 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions with a completion percentage of 59.3 percent.
