The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Denver7 Broncos Insider Troy Renck joins the show to talk about the remainder of Demaryius Thomas’ contract and what the Broncos plan to do with his cap hit. Rockies Manager Bud Black joins the show to talk about the Rockies big deals today with Bettis, Rusin, Blackmon & LeMahieu.
DMac dives into Nicki Jhabvala’s Denver Post article on Pat Bowlen’s inheritance, and what kids are in line to be part of the succession plan. DMac is happy to see the Rockies avoid arbitration with Charlie Blackmon, and Big Al decides if we will only see Blackmon here in Colorado for one more year. Big Al breaks down the NFL Divisional Round of the playoffs, and DMac can’t believe the Bills have fired Rick Dennison. Also, Broncos LB Brandon Marshall’s comments on obtaining Kirk Cousins in Denver. The NBA fines Rodney Hood for knocking a phone out of a fan’s hand as he was taking a picture of him at the Jazz game, and Al & DMac get into what happens next with the Bowlen family.
The guys decide if Joe Ellis is blocking the sale of the team, and DMac wonders how Nicki Jhabvala is connected. Also, why the ownership situation in Denver should matter to the fans. DMac asks Al what else they need to find out about the Broncos ownership situation, and says somebody has to make the decisions on the money. Big Al says whatever decision they make, Broncos ownership & management will be in lock-step moving forward. DMac asks Al about Broncos LB Brandon Marshall advocating for another QB on NFL Network, and Al tries to pin down who is the Broncos ‘Prima Donna.’ Al says coaches can be bullies, and DMac says Chris Harris & Aqib Talib are not special like Von Miller. Big Al says Harris Jr & Talib are no longer top 5 CBs with the rise of Jalen Ramsey & A.J. Bouye. Al explains why he wants to get maximum value for Chris Harris & Aqib Talib right now, and the guys discuss what’s next for Bradley Roby.
Denver7 Broncos Insider Troy Renck joins the show to talk about the remainder of Demaryius Thomas’ contract and what the Broncos plan to do with his cap hit. The guys compare with Troy the numbers if Denver got rid of DT now or kept him on the books on his current deal the next two seasons. Troy & Al agree a restructure is likely in DT’s future, and DMac says don’t be shocked if Denver lets Thomas go. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac says on paper & on the surface, Josh Allen checks many of John Elway’s boxes. Big Al says Gary Kubiak can have a head coaching job whenever he wants one, and DMac tells him to keep in mind Kubiak’s health situation. DMac asks why it took Seattle so long to move on from Darrell Bevell, and Big Al says it will never work getting both Barkley & Cousins to Denver. Rockies Manager Bud Black joins the show to talk about the Rockies big deals today with Bettis, Rusin, Blackmon & LeMahieu. Big Al asks Black what it was like being a part of Colorado’s playoff run last year, and Black notes how tough a one-game playoff can be despite the opportunity. Also, Black talks about how the Monforts plan on remaining perennial contenders in the NL for years to come. Listen to the interview HERE!
