The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Brock Olivo says Brandon McManus hasn’t missed a kick in warmups & practice, and there are no doubts McManus will work his way out of this slump. Al says if Denver slips to 3-3, the rest of the season will be an uphill battle & the Chargers will be given life again.
The boys discuss the price of hats in today’s world. Patrick Beverly tells Lonzo Ball’s dad to sit down, and DMac notes that Beverly is one of the best defensive players in the NBA. DMac says welcome to right tackle Allen Barbre, and Big Al says this will not go well. DMac says the Marshawn Lynch situation is hilarious, after he sneaks back into the stands to watch the rest of the Raiders game after getting kicked out for pushing a ref. In the Big 3 @ 3:30, DMac asks Al just how much tackle Allen Barbre has played in his NFL career, and Al says he was surprised last night when he looked up and saw that Derek Carr had thrown for over 400 yards. Also, the LA Dodgers lineup looks deeper than ever, with Kike Hernandez’s big night. Al says we have to be okay with three-yard gains, and the Los Angeles Chargers can cause headaches. Al tells DMac there will be no forced turnovers this game, and the guys agree about just how impressive Tyreek Hill has been.
In Football @ 4:00, Brock Olivo says Brandon McManus hasn’t missed a kick in warmups & practice, and there are no doubts McManus will work his way out of this slump. DMac notes that this is not a rookie kicker in Denver, and tries to identify with NFL kicking pressure. Al compares McManus getting the yips to his golf game, and explains to DMac how he would pull himself out of a slump on the course, mentioning that sometimes it takes more than a day. DMac tries to get hyped up for the Chargers game, and searches the phone lines for some fired up Broncos fans. We hear from Mike Evans on the offense needing time, and Al says there’s no way Syracuse wins again this week. Al says if Denver slips to 3-3, the rest of the season will be an uphill battle & the Chargers will be given life again.
In the Friday Fire Up, Big Al points out the new names that need to make a mark this week so the Broncos can get a win, and the callers line up to defend the No Fly Zone against Philip Rivers. DMac is happy for Sergio Dipp’s return to television this weekend, and some callers are anxious to see the Broncos’ backups make some noise. The guys decide if VJ is making the right moves & if the Broncos are calling the right plays, or if a selfish, arrogant gameplan is getting in the way of success in Denver. Also, Big Al says if Denver can’t pick up the first down on third-and-short, you don’t deserve to win the game, and the boys make their picks in the King Soopers Fan Football Pick ‘Em for Week 7.
