DMac says things are only getting worse for Buffalo, and Al says the Broncos face a similar tall task on offense trying to block the Bills’ playmakers. DMac talks about Nicki Jhabvala’s article on Trevor Siemian defying the “seventh round stigma” and comments from Siemian’s mom, Colleen. The guys talk about the Rams game against the 49ers last night, and how the Broncos can avoid some of the mistakes the Rams were making. Also, Eddie Lacy’s battle with weight. DMac asks Brock Olivo some hard-hitting questions about Broncos special teams, and when Isaiah McKenzie & Cody Latimer should take returns out of the end zone. Al calls DMac out for having a high school coaching mentality when it comes to going for it on 4th down.
Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 joins the show to talk about the Broncos & Bills dealing with the heat on Sunday in Buffalo, and says the Bills have done well making due without Marcell Dareus, but losing Cordy Glenn is a much bigger deal. With six picks in the first three rounds in next year’s NFL Draft, Capaccio notes that the Bills are set up past 2017 should they struggle this year. Also, Sal tells the guys the Bills wanted Mike McCoy, and Sean McDermott went with Rick Dennison because he’s a veteran coach with experience. Listen to the interview HERE! Big Al mentions how the Broncos can expose the Bills’ weaknesses, and how close Denver is to being able to run the ball on anybody. Al tells DMac you are what the numbers say you are, even if it’s only through two weeks. DMac asks Al what the keys to beating the Bills are on offense, and Al talks about how Denver can get the ball over the Bills’ DBs & pick on their LBs with C.J. Anderson & A.J. Derby. Al is aware of Buffalo’s edge rushers, and DMac notes how quickly things have changed in Broncos Country. The guys decide how Denver can change the outcome of the game, and Al wants Denver to keep in mind that LeSean McCoy is All-World & Tyrod Taylor is effective when running the read-option. DMac says Chad Kelly is in great position to develop, and could return this year. Also, Big Al says we have a Top-10 backup QB situation in Denver & should just move on from Paxton Lynch.
In the Friday FIRE-UP, Al & DMac take calls & try to figure out how Denver can convert on 3rd down & in the red-zone. Al says there’s nothing like being right, and he’s anxious to see Mike McCoy’s play-calling. Also, there is no convincing DMac that Buffalo is not that bad. DMac says there’s nothing good about Jacksonville or Buffalo, and attempts to list all the great things about living in New York. Brandon Stokley picks the 49ers to win in the Fan Football Pick ‘em, and DMac lays out why Stoke’s at a disadvantage this week & might be in line for the Shame Game. Al & DMac make their NFL picks for Week 3, and try to avoid losing back-to-back weeks. DMac wants total misery for Cubs fans, and admits he may have been a little selfish. DMac mentions there’s nothing different from yesterday when it comes to the Rockies’ chances of making the Wild Card.
