The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Denver Broncos star DE Derek Wolfe joins the show to tell the guys what he told Shelby Harris on the final play of the game on Monday Night Football. Derek told Shelby the Guards lean heavy, and he could break through by simply taking off. Once Wolfe was engaged with the blockers, Harris rolled off the left side, and Wolfe points out how to take advantage of linemen with their head down & hands on the ground. Denver 7 Insider Troy Renck joins the show to remind everyone the Broncos are doing all this without Jared Crick, and he was impressed with Shelby Harris & Adam Gotsis last night.
Derek tells Al & DMac he’s not sore or anything today, just a little out of shape. Wolfe says this is the second year in a row he’s had trouble finding cleats, with the big brands being inconsistent of late. Wolfe says he’s now got a cleat guy that goes online & finds cleats, and he’s now making himself a cleat online via custom mold. Also, Al asks Wolfe about the atmosphere, and Wolfe says it was electric & bumping. Wolfe tells the Broncos young guys they must keep their foot on the opponent’s throat & says Philip Rivers wouldn’t even look at him last night because Rivers knows Wolfe likes to mess with him. Wolfe says who cares if they won by one point, or 100, and if the Broncos can make adjustments & not turn the ball over, they can be great. Listen to the interview HERE! Also, who is the world is Sergio Dipp & should he be taking Rex Ryan’s job? Trevor Siemian gets shelled by Joey Bosa & Co. and the guys agree we are in danger of losing Siemian to injury with pass rushers like Bosa, Mack & Houston in Denver’s division. DMac says the Broncos are not cutting Fowler now, and Big Al notes the catch that Emmanuel Sanders makes most times. Brandon Stokley is upset about The Fan Pick ‘em, and doesn’t want to be the loser in the Shame Game. DMac talks about the humiliation & donuts involved with the tie-breaker, and Big Al says it’s a wonder why The Fan’s former NFL players had the worst records in the Pick’em.
The guys talk about Denver attacking opposing defenses, and DMac notes that the broncos never trailed & did score first. Big Al says the Broncos can’t afford to give up cookies or easy plays, and McCoy coached a good game despite the crucial turnovers. Dmac says despite what Rex Ryan thinks, Shelby Harris is not a stranger to us here in Denver. The guys laugh about Rex Ryan & Sergio Dipp becoming the MVPs, and listen to Vance Joseph explain why DeAngelo Henderson didn’t play. Dmac says look out for Isaiah McKenzie & DeAngelo Henderson in the passing game, as they are the most explosive athletes the Broncos have. Big Al tells DMac Jamaal Charles is the best RB on the team when healthy, better even than C.J. Anderson. Denver 7 Insider Troy Renck joins the show to remind everyone the Broncos are doing all this without Jared Crick, and he was impressed with Shelby Harris & Adam Gotsis last night. Troy says the Broncos were able to get the running game going last night, which was encouraging, and he hates when the refs become part of the game. Troy is concerned about Menelik Watson & if he’s getting back too slowly, but liked what he saw up front. Also, Troy admits things got boring & McCoy took his foot off the gas. Listen to the interview HERE!
Big Al says Siemian was fantastic, and Emmanuel Sanders normally makes more plays. Al thinks the No Fly Zone is better with Darian Stewart at T.J. Ward’s position, and we could have used McKenzie in the slot all along. DMac asks who Al would bench for Jordan Taylor, and Al hands a game ball to the Broncos’ coaching staff. The guys try to decide if the Broncos were actively trying to run out the clock at any point during the Chargers game, and Al makes sure DMac knows it’s Vance Joseph’s team, not Mike McCoy’s. Dmac & Al agree the Broncos need to make some quicker decisions on special teams, and DMac says Trevor Siemian is tough, but if he keeps taking hits like that, we will be seeing Brock sooner rather than later.
