The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Adam Schefter joins the show to tell Al & DMac guys like Jared Crick are no longer out there on the waiver wire at this time of the year, and the Broncos must wait until cut-down day to find a replacement on the defensive line. Cecil Lammey joins the show to talk about the struggles of Paxton Lynch & how Von Miller has become a one-man wrecking crew in team drills. Patrick Saunders joins the show to say everyone didn’t know how to react to Chad Bettis’ situation initially, but this should be something the Rockies can use to rally around. Saunders mentions Bettis’ veteran presence, and what we can expect him to bring in his first start tonight.
Big Al tells DMac his only NFL regret was running at the NFL combine, and DMac gives the listeners the Good, Bad & Ugly from today at Broncos training camp. DMac says Paxton was more in control throwing on the run, and what the mood was like when the Broncos saw Jared Crick go down. DMac highlights Paxton’s final 2-minute drill, and Lynch throwing it right in Aqib Talib’s chest. Also, the beautiful pass from Siemian to Raymond in a tiny window for a first down & if games will still decide who starts at QB for Denver. Adam Schefter joins the show to tell Al & DMac certain people have a certain QB presence to them, and men are drawn to follow them. Schefter notes that people change, and Paxton can grow up, but Trevor Siemian seems to be the one with that particular presence about him, not Lynch. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac asks Al how he feels about Chad Bettis overcoming cancer for a second time, and about Tim Tebow’s birthday. DMac wonders about players not having the I.Q. required to play at a high level in the NFL, and Al highlights the battle between Garett Bolles & Ryan Ramczyk for best rookie offensive lineman. Also, Big Al tells DMac he can see Kyle Sloter playing well against the 49ers defense.
Al tells DMac why Calais Campbell & Malik Jackson will likely go down as deals that should’ve gotten done in Denver, and we’re fortunate Derek Wolfe only has a sprained ankle. Cecil Lammey joins the show to talk about the struggles of Paxton Lynch & how Von Miller has become a one-man wrecking crew in team drills. Vance Joseph assumes Paxton Lynch is excited for his upcoming opportunity against the 49ers & to play with the ones, but Cecil notes how unsure the situation seems with not enough energy or personality coming from Paxton. Cecil says there needs to be an honest assessment of Lynch, and he’s looking for the alpha we need to see out of Paxton. Listen to the interview HERE! Patrick Saunders joins the show to say everyone didn’t know how to react to Chad Bettis’ situation initially, but this should be something the Rockies can use to rally around. Saunders mentions Bettis’ veteran presence, and what we can expect him to bring in his first start tonight. Patrick says all Bettis has to do tonight is keep the Rockies in the ballgame, and build on that in his starts to come. Also, Big Al wants to know how we turn things around here at Coors Field, and Patrick notices some issues popping up. Listen to the interview HERE!
It’s back spasms for Jared Crick, and Al says Kerr can move outside & play another technique. The guys are not concerned about the run defense unless we get schemed to death. DMac says Crick might be available Week 1 & Al cautions the listeners that Crick & Wolfe’s injuries could linger all season long. Also, maybe the coaches made a mistake by letting Kyle Sloter play. What would Paxton’s stat line have to be if he gets five series against the 49ers, and how much time would Big Al give the starters? Vance Joseph comments on John Lynch’s new gig, and Al mentions the tough division the 49ers are stuck in. Also, TEAM SLOTER has a new song & the guys debate if Philip Rivers is a HOFer.
