The Drive with Big Al & Cecil LIVE in studio! Cecil wonders if it’s a tough day to be Dan Marino, as John Elway inks a new five-year deal with the Denver Broncos, and is curious to see if Elway’s title of Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager changes at all. Kyrie Irving wants out of Cleveland, and Big Al can’t believe he wants to go to Minnesota. Al tells Cecil when the Broncos need to name a starter at QB, and compares Paxton Lynch to a pair of new shoes.
Cecil & Big Al discuss John Elway’s new contract, as he agrees to a five year deal in Denver that will keep him around through 2021. Al tells Cecil why the five-year extension means so much, and Cecil says maybe it’s GM & COO for Elway’s new title. Al thinks Trevor Siemian can be a solid backup for many years to come, and Al says the day Elway inks a new deal is the day Paxton Lynch becomes a starter. The guys break down what the Elway deal means for Paxton, and Big Al can’t believe Kyrie Irving wants out of Cleveland & into Minnesota. Also, Spieth’s wild win, practice scouts & the likelihood Elway is the new highest-paid GM in the NFL.
Al tells Cecil when the Broncos need to name a starter at QB, and compares Paxton Lynch to a pair of new shoes. Al disagrees with a caller about when to use Paxton Lynch & if this Broncos team is ready to win now. Callers disagree with Al about the Broncos desire to win now, and Al says it’s a team game with complimentary football distinguishing the winners. Al wants to hear why Trevor Siemian should be the starter from the listeners, and some still aren’t sure about either QB.
Broncos seem to be married to Paxton Lynch considering how high they drafted him, and callers tell Al & Cecil the receivers didn’t help Trevor out last year, and Denver missing the playoffs hurt Siemian. The guys discuss how Paxton Lynch & Chad Kelly fared in their Bowl games, and Big Al wants to know who is already writing off Paxton. Al even calls some Broncos fans selfish during a time like this, and calls Kyrie Irving the best PG in the NBA. Also, Big Sexy asks the guys Who Ya Got between the Rockies & Cardinals tonight.
