Not enough to fire Big Al up, the Nuggets ’17 NBA Draft leaves the guys wanting more. Tyler Lydon is a Syracuse alum, and that makes DMac happy. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to answer Al’s questions on things being different for the Rockies if a couple innings went better against Arizona, and previews their series against the Dodgers.
Big Al says the Nuggets need franchise-changing talent like Kevin Durant or LeBron James, not Jimmy Butler. Al knows Denver must grow their own Kawhi Leonard before they will ever compete with the Golden State Warriors. The guys debate what players are difference-makers & if simply making the playoffs is enough for the Nuggets. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to answer Al’s questions on things being different if a couple innings went better against Arizona. Patrick says you have to go back a long time to find a series where the Rockies gave up so many runs at home. The cracks are starting to show with the Rockies young pitching, and Patrick tells DMac the importance of taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers this weekend. Listen to the interview HERE!
It’s a marathon, not a sprint for the Rockies, and DMac & Al can get excited for a one game play-in but DMac suggests how about a best-of-three series. Al says CarGo is currently the Rockies weakest link, and DMac can’t believe the controversy surrounding Oregon St and LSU in the CWS involving the yellow line & replay. The Nuggets tried to put draft-day deals together, but nothing came through & Big Al mentions how hard it is to have a team that’s home-grown like the Spurs. Also, The guys hear from Gronk & Dustin Pedroia at David Ortiz’ retirement ceremony.
Big Al wonders if what’s happening with the Nuggets is a joke & the front office is overwhelmed. Al thinks these are Josh Kroenke’s moves being made, and DMac thinks they are Tim Connelly’s. The guys hear selections LIVE from the NHL Draft at the United Center, and wait until you hear who the Colorado Avalanche selected with the No. 4 pick overall. Also, Big Sexy asks the guys Who Ya Got tonight between the Rockies & Dodgers in Los Angeles.
